Guitar Strings Going Out of Tune – Second Handy Hint

September 2nd, 2010 by dumissing

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When you begin to enjoy playing the guitar and you feel like treating yourself to a new set of strings, it is very disappointing when you are expecting to enjoy the new crisp sound but it’s difficult with your guitar strings going out of tune after a couple of strums. Here is a quick hint to hopefully iron out the problem every time you change strings.

I had previously heard the phrase ‘tune up to the note’ before but never really thought about it too much and didn’t know how it would affect me and my guitar. Now, over the years, I have found some guitars are more sensitive than others with this, but when you tune in the guitar and go too high past the note, you would automatically tune down until you hit the note. There shouldn’t be anything wrong with this, but this is not the best way to keep the tension in the string. You should slacken the string again and always tune UP to the note.

This has more to do with the tension in the machine heads / tuning heads and the more expensive or better quality they are, the less you should experience the problem.

This is a very simple solution and when I have used this method when tuning in someone else’s guitar which might not be the best quality, the owner has commented on how quickly I have managed to get the guitar in tune and it will be partly down to this technique.

It’s a good habit that to get into as the principle applies to every guitar which should help stop your guitar strings going out of tune in the future.

Do you feel a guitar course would help you improve?

You can find guitar course reviews for these main competitors.

I bought one of these courses and I think this online product review is worth a look if you are a beginner, or you’re being held back by certain aspects of playing the guitar.

I have played guitar for over 25 years and feels it can and should be done in a fraction of the time these days.

Simple Golf Swing Instruction From Ben Hogan and Harvey Penick

August 24th, 2010 by dumissing

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, just for a moment. How many of you have ever read Harvey Penick’s “The Little Red Book” or how many have ever read Ben Hogan’s “Five Lessons The Modern Fundementals of Golf”?

If there ever were golf swing instructions that struck the nail on the head , these two books did the trick. Now, don’t get me wrong here, I am not selling these books, but you can still get them if you want at almost any book store.

But for golf swing instruction these gave some insight as to what actually works.

Here is an example of how to get a visual of the proper club head path and almost automatically get on the correct plane.

In Hogan’s book he talks about swinging under the plane. The Plane is a sheet of glass with a hole cut into it so that your head can go into the hole. The glass then extends down to the target line, the bottom of the glass sits on the target line while the other end sits on your shoulders with you head through the hole.

This visual gives you the exact plane you should have based on how you are set up, that is your spine angle that will ultimately set the swing plane angle.

Now you must swing under the glass so that you don’t break it.

This simple thought and visual coupled with knowing that proper club head path leads to excellent attack angles to the and through the golf ball.

Another excellent thought is the position of the right elbow both on the backswing and on the downswing. On the backswing the right elbow should point exactly down to the ground, this puts the right forearm in a perpendicular position to the ground and at a right angle to your bicep. Your upper arm or bicep should be parallel to the ground.

While this is happening you have to make sure that you are getting a good shoulder turn. It won’t help to have the right arm in a perfect position and not have a good shoulder turn.

Now the downswing – start the downswing be literally slamming your right elbow directly into your right hip. Straight down and do this hard and fast. Push with the right hand or pull with the left hand , either will work. While you are slamming your right elbow into your right hip , you will be bumping forward with your left hip. This is a lateral move and is one of Harvey Penicks ” Magic Moves” He suggests that you actually start the swing with this bump to the left and that this move will help bring your right elbow into it’s proper position.

Try it both ways… see what kind of results you get. And use what works for you.

If you do it right your swing plane and path will improve instantly as you will hit the ball crisply and very very solid.

If you want to know if there are any real magic moves in the golf swing the answer is yes, there are four. You can learn the first one here for free and take it to the range for a spin, click here: http://www.ebooksbestbuy.com/golf

Does SEO Mean Success For Everyone Online?

August 22nd, 2010 by dumissing

Image : http://www.flickr.com

What is SEO? Well it’s fair to say if you can master SEO it could mean Success for Everyone Online, but until you can let’s just call it Search Engine Optimization. Search Engine Optimization is the process of selecting the most appropriate targeted keyword you want your website to rank for. A key word is simply a word or a phrase a person inputs into a search engine to find what they’re looking for. The exact science of SEO is a closely guarded secret by all search engines, Google, Yahoo, AOL to name a few, but the essence of SEO and a front page ranking is back links. The more links you have back to your site the higher your ranking, especially when the back links come from a high ranking site.

When it comes to choosing your keyword or words, it’s very important you understand the basic principles. Choosing the correct keywords to link back to your site is crucial, it’s far better to choose a key word or phrase which may have 6000 monthly searches and rank on the front page as opposed to choosing one with 2,000,000 searches and rank on page 20.

The first 3 ranking places on Google control approx 60% of the clicks, therefore you can drastically increase your sales if you can rank your site on the podium.

For example, let’s say you owned a small hotel in London and you chose the keyword London, there were 226,000,000 searches last month on Google using that exact keyword and 493,000,000 sites relating to it. Now that’s a lot of searches per month but also a heck of a lot of sites to compete against. When looking for keywords it’s best to go for what’s called long tailed keyword such as London best hotel, there were 40,500 searches last month and only 80,600 competing sites. Now if you’re promoting your hotel it’s not difficult to rank on the front page with only 80,600 competing sites, and with 40,500 searches per month that’s still a lot of potential business. In contrast to try and compete with almost half a billion sites would be at least fool hardy to attempt! Therefore not only is it a lot easier to rank on the front page with London best hotel but the people searching that key phrase are looking for that very thing, where the key word London could cover anything from bridges to butlers.

When looking to choose your keyword, words or phrases don’t just pluck them out of the sky, there are tools available to show you the exact words used and the amount of monthly searches adhering them. My main focus within this article has been on Google; after all it is the No.1 search engine provider, so why not? Google offers a free keyword search tool to help you decide on which keywords to use: – www.adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

To conclude, many who search the term London may only be browsing the internet looking for anything from pictures of the Queen to the O2 arena, but someone who is specifically searching the term London best hotel are more than likely planning a visit. So not only is it a lot easier to rank on the front page using long tail keywords but the traffic is highly targeted, what would 45,000 unique visitors per month do for your business?

Work From Home eBay Basics

August 20th, 2010 by dumissing

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Your eBay user ID is vital to your business success on eBay. Making money in several ways from home is now possible on this website. However, there are certain factors to be observed in order to make your trading a smooth operation. Your eBay user ID gives credibility to your business enterprise on eBay. In picking out your ID make sure it has relevance to your line of work.

If there is any guarantee, including money back, include that also. You should take that into account when making your offer. Time your offer of your products to run concurrent with national or global events of relevance to the requirement of your products. Find out what you love to do; you may be a chess enthusiast for instance. Turn your hobby into money making opportunity. You may want to sell electronics if you are a fan. If you are a good chef, you can sell recipes on eBay.

You will be surprised to find out that there many things that can be sold which you have never realized before. Scour your home for products you don’t want. Decide which you want to sell. Small products are easy to ship fast by air express at a reasonable transportation charge. These things will have to be washed, dried, cleaned or polished to ensure they are decent for sale. Wash all objects that are made of glass. Products in boxes should be dusted. Polish your silverware. Take note of any damage on any of the objects.

Studio pictures look more professional though they cost slightly higher. Do not cut costs down at the expense of professionalism. Photo studio professionals will not only take good photographs for you but you can also ask them to put the photo onto a CD for you. You require to be precise and convincing. If you have return policies make sure you include in your reports as it will save you a lot of time. You can get eBay to write the ad or you for a fee.

Lastly – you require to arrange for a reputable courier service to ensure your product is safely delivered and on time but insurance for damages is also needed.

August 18th, 2010 by dumissing

Designing a passionate life requires nurturing of your relationships. Relationships are the key to our lives. As human beings, we crave them. When I speak of relationships I am speaking about all types which include; your relationship with yourself, parents, siblings, romantic partners, business partners, co-workers, customers, children, and vendors. The list can go on and on.

Relationships are key elements to living a passionate life as well. Without good relationships you aren’t going to make it very far down the road with your passions. You need people to support you in your passion in one manner or another. Relationships are the foundation of functioning on this planet in any culture.

To come up with ideas on how to nurture your relationships ask yourself the following questions:

  • How can I create a deeper connection with myself?
  • How can I improve my relationship with my parents?
  • How can I take my service to my customers to the next level?
  • What areas in my romantic relationship could use more love and understanding? How will I accomplish this?
  • What can I do to improve my communications with my co-workers?
  • How can I contribute to a higher level of team participation with my business partners?
  • How can I bring fun to my relationships with my siblings?
  • How can I contribute to a deeper connection with my children?

Nurturing relationships is an ongoing process and one to be aware of in all dealings with people, even people you meet in passing. Think about it, what makes or breaks your day? For me, it is usually the interactions that I have with other people. If they went well, I feel good about my day. If there were challenges then I don’t feel as good and my energy level is low.

How you handle and nurture your relationships has a direct affect on your energy level, your feeling of well being, and the ease with which your life flows. Time spent nurturing and improving all of your relationships will reward you on many levels.

How do you nurture the relationships that will support you in living your passions?

I wonder what would happen if you were able to identify your passions and start living in alignment with them? I offer tips and methods for living passionately on my blog. Historical Uses For Car Hire

August 16th, 2010 by dumissing

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Scotland is home to the westernmost and northernmost points of Great Britain. The highest peak of Great Britain is at Ben Nevis in Scotland at 1344 metres.

This geographical location makes it cold, wet and windy with some of the most inhospitable terrain of the entire country.

Scots have a reputation for being a hard and often fierce race but this is not necessarily so. Indeed, with their very best export being Scotch Whiskey this must have mellowed them somewhat over the years.

However, whiskey aside, how much easier would life have been for the Scottish clans if car hire had been around as long as they had?

Just think back to King Macbeth. Reigning from 1040 to 1057, Macbeth won his seat by slaying Duncan I in battle near Elgin. During his time on the throne he went on a pilgrimage to Rome in 1050. How much quicker would this have been in a car hired from Scotland instead of on horseback and boat? The pilgrimage obviously did him no favours as he was killed seven years later by Duncan’s son, Malcolm Canmore at Lumphanan, Aberdeenshire.

Maybe if Macbeth had travelled to Rome in a hired car, he would have been home sooner and in a better position to prepare himself for battle against Canmore?

The trials of Sir William Wallace would have been infinitely reduced if he had car hire Scotland available to him. Born in 1270 in Renfrewshire, West Scotland, Sir William was a firm believer in the independence of Scotland from England.

Beating the English army in 1297, Sir William was hailed a hero by the Scottish people and was given control of the government while their King was in prison in England. Unfortunately, he was defeated the following year but his crusade to keep Scotland free of British rule continued.

The demise of Sir William Wallace came about when he was captured in Glasgow in 1305 and executed in London shortly after. Maybe if he had car hire options he could have covered more ground, won more battles and escaped his enemies?

Scotland has produced many fine artists of literature in its time. Poet Robert Burns and novelist and poet Sir Walter Scott lived in the late 1700’s. Burns was born the son of a farmer and twice during his lifetime tried his hand at farming, failing dismally. His heart was in writing poetry and he excelled at this. One of his most famous pieces is Auld Lang Syne but in The Authors Earnest Cry and Prayer he sang ‘Freedom and whiskey gang thegither’.

Car hire would have been useful to Burns as his travels around Scotland took him from his birthplace in Ayrshire, South West Scotland to Edinburgh and Dumfries. With a hired car, visiting fellow artists such as Walter Scott would have proved beneficial for inspiration. However, with his love of the Scotch, maybe it wouldn’t have been such a good idea.

Sir Walter Scott overtook Robert Burns as the most popular author of his time. Maybe because he started off in Edinburgh and therefore was much more central to the larger population. When he wrote The Heart of Midlothian, is it possible that he had a visit from Robert Burns in mind when he said ‘The hour is come but not the man’? Possibly with car hire this line would never have been written.

In more recent times, Alexander Graham Bell, educationist and inventor from 1847 to 1922 is one of Scotland’s more notable exports. Studying at Edinburgh and London, Bell spent many years working with his father on their sign language system and elocution lessons. Responsible for the invention of the telephone, Bell’s life would have been easier if he had hired a car to get between Edinburgh and London instead of relying on public transport. He could also have used car hire for his visits abroad.

Bell moved to Canada in 1871 taking with him the fine reputation of the Scot’s people as being fine inventors with creative minds. Maybe it’s the extreme climate of Scotland and the fact that they have had to walk all over the difficult terrain instead of using hired cars that has hardened them to the elements and given them some of the best minds in existence.

Travel expert Catherine Harvey looks at how the use of car hire in Scotland [http://www.budget.co.uk/car-hire/car-hire-scotland.htm/] would have benefited the country’s past. To find out more please visit [http://www.budget.co.uk/car-hire/car-hire-scotland.htm/]

Zune Digital Player: What Will play – and Won’t Play

August 13th, 2010 by dumissing

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There’s a lot of misinformation on the web about what will and will not play on your Zune.

A recent poster in our forums summed up the confusion: “I am hoping you can answer a question for me. I have about 10 GB of music on my hard drive, over half of which I have purchased through music services such as MusicMatch and MSN. I really want to purchase a zune, but I am concerned this player won’t play the music I have already purchased from reading some posts, blogs and news. Will it play my music I already have…or is all the music I have out the window? Please clear up this concern for me…I have not been able to find any answers anywhere……”

Let’s give a clear answer to that question. We’ll be as definitive as we can be from the information available.

In your collection, your music most likely comes from one of the four sources below. Here’s what we know for each:

Music bought from iTunes Store…

…cannot be played on Zune (or on any other digital player except for iPod). This is because Apple applies its “FairPlay” digital rights management restrictions on files purchased through iTunes Store.

Music bought or otherwise acquired from sources that do not apply DRM or copy protection…

…are playable on Zune. Examples: songs ripped from CDs; illegally downloaded songs.

Music bought from Zune Marketplace…

…can play on your Zune (naturally). And, cannot be played on non-Zune players.

Music bought from sources that apply DRM protection, but do not restrict the playing of songs to particular players (eg MSN Music and other online stores)…

…does NOT appear to be playable on Zune.

We found the last point hard to believe for a long time. But it now seems clear that Zune players are made to be compatible with Zune services (eg Marketplace) only, and not music purchased elsewhere.

We draw this conclusion partly from a recent enGadget’s interview with J. Allard, and from our email interactions with Zune insiders and Microsoft bloggers. In the interview, Allard indicates that “you get a Zune device, you hook it up to the Zune service, and it just works”, and his other statements indicate that music purchased through PlaysForSure sources won’t play on Zune.

In that regard, then, the Zune system is just as restrictive as iPod/iTunes is.

What does this mean for you? Part of that answer depends on the make-up of your current music library.

For people with large music collections of protected downloaded music, you’re not going to be able to play that music on your Zune – at least without some awkward workarounds. This may affect your decision about whether to go Zune or not.

For people who don’t have large purchased collections, or who are comfortable with a ZunePass subscription, the decision to go Zune is easier.

And for people who are against closed music systems in general… then neither Zune nor iPod is right for you. Stay on the sidelines and stick with PlaysForSure and other more open systems.

As for me, I’m going with a ZunePass subscription. For a monthly price of an album-and-a-half, I’ll have my pick from millions of songs. I’ll be swapping songs and albums in and out of my playlists without restriction.

Shingles Gone In 45 minutes

August 12th, 2010 by dumissing

Image : http://www.flickr.com

My client, Connie, woke up Tuesday morning with shingles. She knew she had shingles because she is 80 years old and she has seen many friends suffer with them. The blisters broke out on the top of her head and cascaded down her forehead through her right eye brow, down her right cheek and on to her chest. They were very painful, so she rushed to the doctor’s that morning and he prescribed antibiotics.

He told her that they were going to get a lot worse before they got better. She had just better prepare herself.

Her daughter called me that afternoon and told me the unfortunate news about Connie. She said Connie’s shingles were very painful and itched terribly.

I’m a hospice social worker and I use EFT on my dying patients and grieving survivors to relieve their suffering. I have used EFT on many issues, but I hadn’t tackled shingles. I had just read, Angela Treat Lyon’s e-book, “I Dare You Get Free!” and one of her articles addressed herpes (pg. 35). Since herpes and shingles are basically the same thing, I decided to try EFT on it.

I called Connie up and asked if she’d like to give it a try. She was very receptive and basically just asked what she had to do. Since she had not ever been exposed to EFT or meridians, and we were talking on the phone, I had her take a piece of paper and draw a circle for her head and one for her torso, then I gave her the tapping points. She rated her SUDs (subjective units of discomfort) pain at 10 plus out of 10, and her itching she said was even worse. Her biggest fear was not sleeping since she was so uncomfortable.

We started tapping, striking both karate chop spots together. We first worked on eliminating any reversal: Even though: I love these shingles, I was wondering when I was going to get them everyone I know has had them, I was feeling left out, I love these shingles and all they represent and I totally and profoundly accept and love myself as I am today.

She was laughing. Then we started tapping seriously on her pain and itching. Starting at both KC points:

Even though: I have these shingles, I totally and profoundly love myself, I have the pain and itching associated with these shingles, I profoundly love and accept myself, I have these symptoms associated with shingles, I totally and profoundly honor and accept myself.

Then we did a full round starting at the crown and working down the face and torso: these shingles, itching, pain, this pain is a 10, itching, terrible itching, these shingles on the top of my head, cascading down the right side of my face and landing on my chest, these shingles, this pain and itching. We ended with striking the insides of the wrists together saying

pain and itching. I could hear her yawning ( a good sign energy is releasing) so I stopped and had her take a deep breath and evaluate her pain and itching. Her pain was at a zero and her itching was down to a 3. She was so thrilled she wanted to stop and go to bed right away but I persuaded her to give me a little more time.

We went after the itching, with a full round of; “this remaining itching.”

I heard her sigh as we hit the Liver point. I had her take a deep breath and tell me how she was feeling. Her itching was now a zero, too. I wanted to do a healing round but she was determined to go to bed right away, so of course she won.

Wednesday morning I called and Connie reported that she had slept like a baby. She had no pain but some of the itching had returned. I asked what SUDs level and she stated it was a 4, with an apology insisting that she could live with these symptoms. I encouraged her to try EFT again, and she agreed.

I asked why she thought the itching had returned; amazingly she said it was guilt. She felt guilty for feeling so good when so many of her friends had suffered for weeks and sometimes months without relief. We tapped on her guilt:

Even though:

I’m itching because I’m guilty, I’m guilty because my friends suffer, itchy guilt, quick recovery guilt,

why should I be so lucky guilt, guilt, oh this terrible guilt.

Then she started laughing and reported that she has was feeling very silly about her guilt and had no itching. We did a round on healing energy, which she loved.

Even though:

I have healing energy coursing through my body, healing energy flowing through the top of my head, healing energy swirling throughout my body, healing flowing into my body, ending with a full round from her crown down to the Liver point, of golden healing light, healing me, I choose to be healthy, I choose to let any and all stress go, I choose to let go of all illness and replace it with wonderful healing energy. She loved that part and wrote some of the affirmations down to say later. I asked her to tap on those affirmations one full round three times daily and I would call her on Friday to see how she was doing.

Friday morning, she reported that she had a few dark marks on her head and face where she thought the shingles were but had not broken out. She reported that her pain hadn’t returned after the first session and all the itching was gone after the 2nd EFT session. She reported that her joints felt a lot better too, which apparently was a secondary benefit. She also honestly told me that she had completely forgotten to tap on her own. She was very happy with the results and thrilled to tell her doctor how she had not suffered after her first introduction of EFT.

One month later I called Connie, who said she has had no reoccurrences of her shingles or the symptoms associated with them. Her daughter reports that she thought she was wearing make up recently because not only had the red marks from the shingles cleared up nicely on her face, the rest of her complexion looked great too!

The Middle Class Struggle in Australia

August 11th, 2010 by dumissing

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Australia is a land of blessing, or so we thought. While job opportunities are constantly increasing all across the country to the point of hiring foreigners to man hundreds of thousands of jobs today and in the years to come, a common Australian faces a common issue–expensive housing cost. Although any developed nation has similar issue, the Australian version is simply more expensive and more challenging to deal with.

Those who live in a major Australian city know that housing cost is one of their main concerns. A common city dweller knows that Australia has simply one of the most expensive housing costs in the world. Even rental costs are exploding left and right. Buying a house in a city in Australia normally costs about $400,000 today. If you are lucky to have a house, think about your luck again since even house renovation is mostly out of reach for a usual worker in a city. If you think it is ironic, you may be right. Australia is one of the largest countries in the world, with its people to land ratio the lowest in the world without considering Antarctica. Simply said, there is simply lots of land here than anywhere else in the world.

The real problem lies on the government deregulation of land development costs. Land developers in the continent ensuring small areas of land release them only after a considerable period of time. Coupled with high government taxes, this scheme drives the price of the land beyond the reach of many ordinary citizens. In fact, the average federal and state taxes usually go over $50,000. Such overly expensive taxes may result to higher government revenue, but it does not help the average citizen in terms of housing needs. To the contrary, many Australian families are driven to commit themselves to unfair and enslaving borrowings and loans from mortgages and banks. They are probably fortunate if they can ever pay them at all.

Middle class housing has been the last in the long list of government priorities, which can be translated roughly to total neglect. There is an apparent lack of action on the part of the Australian government in terms of providing affordable housing to the Australian people in general. In all its wisdom, the government has put much faith on the assumption that market forces will solve this housing issue naturally. Sadly, this is never possible, unless the citizens are happily spending their lives on the streets. It is a known fact that the government knowingly allows landlords to claim the cost of housing against income hoping it will increase rental availability. However, this scheme is never effective and what it managed to do is simply raise the cost of housing, further accentuating the line dividing financial status of the people.

While the government is quick to ease the burden of those living in the streets, the middle class usually complain that they often pick a second place in terms of housing benefits. Large areas are converted into government housing projects, but not for the working class. The Coalition party led by Tony Abbott has many things to offer including housing benefits to the middle class. The middle class is eagerly waiting for him to win, and give new hope to the backbone of Australian society, the middle class.
